AMY MERKEL, born April 27, 1922, died peacefully at Ozanam Hall on October 28, 2023. She was a woman who pioneered through 101 years of love of life, her Church and her family. Amy, known to all her family as Mutzie, was the matriarch of the Schneider family. Never moving far from where she was born in Glendale, she lived the majority of her life in her birth home which had been in the family for over 100 years. A devout, life-long Catholic, Amy was a member of St. Pancras Church. It was there that she was baptized, educated, confirmed, married and raised her son Roy, Jr. Amy is fondly and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. She loved to listen to stories of the “news” from family and friends. She had an open ear for everyone and was eager to provide her guidance and wisdom to all. Known for her sense of fashion, Amy was always dressed to the nines! Shoes and pocketbook to match every outfit, along with coordinated necklace, earrings and bracelet. She would never be seen without her make-up and loved her perfume! Amy is pre-deceased by her husband Roy, Sr., son Roy Jr., brother Nicholas Schneider, sisters Rosemary Burdi, Marilyn Morse, and Carole Marsh. She is survived by her daughter-in law Nancy, granddaughter Elizabeth, and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand nephews.
